As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor you will ensure that the emotional and therapeutic needs of patients are consistently met and maintained, based on individual plans of behavioral health care.


Your specific duties will include:

  • Conducting and documenting daily group therapy sessions
  • Completing psychosocial assessments
  • Facilitating family therapy and individual therapy
  • Implementing and reviewing treatment and discharge plans



  • Master's level licensure as an Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Counselor is required.
  • 2+ years experience (in a hospital setting preferred)
  • Strong therapy and assessment skills
  • Expertise in the needs of geriatric and adult populations
  • Experience in performing brief short-term therapy (e.g. cognitive behavioral therapy or solution focused therapy)
  • Experience developing therapeutic materials preferred.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish a plus

Hospital/Program Description

Program Hope is an outpatient behavioral health program for adults age 55+ and one of the services offered by Memorial Medical Center (a 25 bed rural critical access hospital) located in Port Lavaca, TX. The program provides group, individual, and family therapy, along with psychiatric services. One of the major benefits of working at Program Hope is the small work environment that truly offers a team approach.

Port Lavaca is a small coastal community with beautiful beach areas along the Gulf Coast. It also offers excellent fishing and a quiet, family-friendly environment in a population of approximately 12,000. With Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi, all within a few hours away, the area is not far from the fast pace of big cities.
