Overview

Come work with a great team!  Diamond Healthcare, the manager of behavioral health services for MedStar Washington Hospital Center, has an opening for an Outpatient Intake Clinician to perform diagnostic evaluations on clients by conducting intake interviews, strength-based assessments, investigating case histories through contact with appropriate collateral resources, and evaluating clients to determine treatment strategies

Requirements/Qualifications

  1. Provides intervention services by interviewing clients and/or families and evaluating and making appropriate referrals;
  2. Works collaboratively with referral source and key staff to identify and implement treatment goals;
  3. Maintains intake database with weekly and monthly statistics to inform leadership of the needs of the community and the organization’s ability to meet those needs;
  4. Maintains good rapport with internal and external referral sources;
  5. Serves as a liaison/coordinator between clinical staff, referral sources, insurance companies, medical care partners, physicians, clients and family members.
  6. Provides crisis intervention/consultation as needed;
  7. Provides quality and timely clinical documentation, per Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies’ requirements.

Competencies

  1. Proficiency in interpersonal communication and interdisciplinary teamwork
  2. Experience and skill in treating  patients with various types and presentations of psychiatric/behavioral health disorders
  3. Proficiency in conducting psychosocial assessments
  4. Proficiency in developing interdisciplinary treatment plans

 

Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years experience in assessing, diagnosing and developing treatment plans for patients with psychiatric/behavioral health disorders.  Must be flexible to adjust to the needs of a fast-paced environment, demonstrate effective problem solving skills, and display excellent oral/written communication skills.   Previous adult behavioral health and substance use treatment experience is preferred.  Candidates must have active District of Columbia LICSW or Psychologist license.
