Title: Assistant Director of Nursing
Reports To: Director of Nursing
SUMMARY PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION: Supervise and direct all aspects of patient care.
Responsible for personnel, management, and coordination of nursing service activities in conjunction with the Director of Nursing to provide nursing functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in accordance with established philosophy, objectives, and policies of the hospital to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care. Relates effectively with other departments for continuity of care and, assumes supervision of all nursing functions in the absence of the Director of Nursing Services.
Administrative responsibilities include meeting with patients and family members to discuss concerns or patient care. The ability to evaluate issues and trends, as well as address and resolve issues collaboratively with hospital administration, is also required.
Supervises: Staff RN’s, LPN’s & MHT’s
EDUCATION: Must be a graduate from a State Accredited School of Nursing/BSN preferred with current State registration. Certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years relevant experience in the care of the mentally ill/geriatric population; including but not limited to ,.Medication teaching, management of the therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and de-escalation, medication management, detoxification and patient and family teaching . Minimum 1 year experience in a Nursing Leadership role that involved managing, evaluating, coaching and disciplinary action with nursing personnel providing in-service training, maintaining regulatory standards, and developing staffing schedules to assure safe nursing care.
