    Our overview:

     

    The Mental Health Tech/Van Driver is a key position that provides direct patient care, monitors patients' physical and emotional needs, and administratively supports the psychiatric program.

    • Maintaining the safety and security of the patients while transporting them to and from the program and during program hours.

    • Communicating with patients by telephone any program changes/transportation delays and problem-solving any transportation issues.

    • Making sure that the van is cleaned and in working order after each use, as well as coordinating all regular scheduled maintenance.

    • Supporting patient needs, escort patients who are fall risks.

    • Participating as a member of the interdisciplinary team- communicating information, integrate appropriately with host Hospital.

    This position will involve transportation for programs in Winchester.  Starting pay is $13.00/hr. 

    We are also expanding our services at our Winchester site to include adults and senior adults.

    Requirements/Qualifications

    You will need: 

    • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • 1+ years of work experience with behavioral health in a psychiatric / chemical dependency facility
    • Clean driving record
    • Familiarity with medical and psychiatric terminology
    • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to build positive and respectful rapport with patients and families
    • Works well in a busy team environment

    Hospital/Program Description

    Valley Health Behavioral Health offers a 26 bed general adult psychiatric unit at Winchester Medical Center and two off-site Structured Outpatient Programs for Seniors (Winchester and Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock, VA). 

    Our Winchester site has expanded to include both adults and senior adults. 

     


    Our Inpatient Program is an intensive, crisis stabilization program serving a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders. We have a team of three Psychiatrists, and patients engage in daily milieu therapy with Psychiatric Clinicians, Activities Therapists and Psychiatric RN’s. ECT is offered.
