The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place is seeking a full-time Clinical Nurse Educator to be responsible for assessment, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs that enhance performance, promote professional development and support the mission and vision of the Behavioral Health Facility.  


The Nurse Educator will demonstrate clinical expertise, leadership, management, excellent communication skills and knowledge of education theory and principle necessary to develop educational programs and achieve optimal educational outcomes.

  • Designs, implements, and evaluates designated unit-based educational programs and coordinates collaboration with hospital-based educational programs
  • Assesses learning needs through formal and informal approaches to data collection to determine specific education needs.
  • Utilizes teaching techniques that promote critical thinking and evidence based practice incorporating principles of adult learning theory. 
  • Identifies, coordinates and plans educational offerings for Behavioral Health personnel, with consideration of but not limited to mandatory regulations, safety, performance improvement, new equipment, technologies, and clinical advancements.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness and learning outcomes of educational activities.  Conducts classroom and/or clinical instruction to behavioral health staff.


  • Master’s degree in Nursing is required,
  • PhD, EdD, or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred.
  • Certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the care of the Behavioral Health clients and supervision of paraprofessional staff; assessment, planning, provision and evaluation of psychiatric nursing care to patients.

Hospital/Program Description

The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place opened in April of 2012 on the established campus of Williamsburg Place near Historic Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. The 66-bed, 33,500-square foot inpatient psychiatric facility offers services based on principles of milieu therapy which provide a safe, supportive and secure environment for individuals to return to a stable level of functioning and live life to the fullest. Each individual is assessed by a team of professionals led by a psychiatrist to determine that they meet the medically necessary criteria for inpatient level of care.
