    Come work with a great team!  Diamond Healthcare, the manager of behavioral health services for MedStar Washington Hospital Center, has an opening for a Clinical Psychologist. 

     

     

    The Clinical Psychologist will provide psychological services in designated department(s).  This person will oversee routine operational tasks and the implementation of program development tasks.  Provides leadership and special expertise in one or more sub fields of clinical and medical psychology.   Provides full range of necessary psycho-diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to inpatients and outpatients of designated department(s).

    Requirements/Qualifications

    1. Coordinates clinical service delivery provided to designated department(s). Provides information to the director or designee about clinical activities and program demands to ensure adequate staffing to meet patients’ needs and to maintain quality of services being provided.

     

    1. Conducts and documents initial psychological assessment of patients

     

    1. Conducts psychological evaluations as needed, including Bariatric Surgery Pre-OP evaluations and court ordered evaluations.

     

    1. Establishes psychological service delivery plan subject to timely reassessment and revision.

     

    1. Performs detailed and specific psycho diagnostic assessment, including psychological testing and psychological evaluations.

     

    1. Provides psychotherapy to include: counseling, group and family therapy, sexual counseling, cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma based therapy and behavior therapy.

     

    1. Communicates with treatment teams to maintain continuity of psychological and other care and to reduce unnecessary duplication of services.

     

    1. Participates in discharge planning to provide appropriate referral and liaison for patients’ and families’ psychological needs.

     

    1. Provides consults on inpatient units within scope of practice.

     

    1. Participate in agency-wide training programs and in-services

     

    1. Participate in the clinical peer-review process

     

    1. Provides quality and timely clinical documentation, per Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies’ requirements

     

    1. May provide clinical supervision of other clinicians or clinicians in training.

     

    1. Maintains detailed documentation of services provided to: permit administrative and peer review; audit of services against charges for services, and meet documentation requirements of the designated department(s) and the District of Columbia.

     

    1. Develops behavioral assessment, treatment, and remediation programs for patients in designated department(s) and implements such programs in collaboration with other disciplines.

     

    1. Serves as the psychological consultant to treatment teams.

     

    1. Engages in teaching/training as required.

     

    1. Maintains and enhances clinical skills, via supervision, in-service training, appropriate workshops, courses and conferences.

     

    1. Completes documentation and charge capture per hospital regulations.

     

    1. Adheres to the standards for ethical and professional practice of the American Psychological Association and the District of Columbia.

     

    1. Other duties as assigned.

     

     

     

    Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years experience in psychological assessments of patients with psychiatric/behavioral health disorders.  Must be flexible to adjust to the needs of a fast-paced environment, demonstrate effective problem solving skills and display excellent oral/written communication skills.   Previous adult behavioral health and substance use treatment experience is preferred.  Postdoctoral training in medical psychology is preferred.  Candidates must have active District of Columbia Psychologist license or be eligible for endorsement.
