  • Overview

    The position is responsible for providing residential and therapeutic support to patients in a recovery-oriented psychosocial rehabilitation program.  


    Primary Responsibilities Include:

    • Maintain documentation including shift summaries, significant incident reports, documentation of room checks, etc
    • Daily oversight of direct patient care staff
    • Daily supervision of patient milieu
    • Implement and monitor individual behavioral plans
    • Enrich and augment scheduled/structured therapeutic and recreational activities
    • De-escalate and intervene in crisis situations as appropriate.  
    • Provide one to one supervision of patients as ordered by medical staff
    • Supervise patients in residential areas and those segregated for stabilization management
    • Provide guidance to patients in life skills and grooming
    • Participate in staff and treatment team meetings
    • Conduct inside and outside rounds

    Hiring for the following shifts:

    8-hour, 7am-3:30pm or 3pm-11:30pm

    12-hour, 7am-7:30pm or 7pm-7:30am


    • Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in a Health and/or Human Services field, preferred OR 
    • NYS Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, and/or Patient Care Technician certificate preferred OR
    • Minimum two (2) years of direct patient care experience required (in lieu of preferred Associates Degree and/or NYS Certifications)
    • Previous patient care experience in a behavioral health or hospital setting preferred.
    • Ability to direct the activities of patients, to work under potentially stressful conditions, and deal with individuals / critical situations in an effective manner.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse population.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Sufficient physical ability and perceptive acuity to perform patient care functions.
    • Successful completion of departmental required training and in-service training
