The Farley Center currently has an opening for a PRN (as needed) Unit Techniciant. The Unit Technician is responsible for the safety and well being of the patients on the unit and for timely and accurate record keeping. Performs safe and effective patient care utilizing the nursing process. Assists in the admission and assessment process and may assist with staff development and community relations/referral development. Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of illnesses involved with chemical dependency; Maintain active awareness of symptoms of substance abuse and possible affects.
*The Unit Technician must possess a high school diploma and a current CPR certification (training provided) as well as current Virginia license to operate a motor vehicle.
*Must be able to apply information on facility and nursing procedures such as crisis management, CPR, behavioral documentation, etc.
*Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, demonstrate an acute awareness of documentation needs and ability to perform effective and timely behavioral documentation.
*Demonstrate an ability to handle emergencies, either medical or psychiatric, in a professional manner.
*Education and experience and/or training in working with the chemically dependent patient population is required either prior to employment or during an initial employment period
