Requirements/Qualifications

Overview:

 

The Billing/Coding Specialist will perform duties related to posting, billing, and collecting of clinical revenue within the behavioral health departments.

 

Major Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to standardized billing department’s policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with the Revenue Cycle Director and the other hospital team members to ensure compliance.
  • Reviews provider charges for accuracy and completeness and obtains any missing information.
  • Prepares, reviews, and transmits claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
  • Responds and resolves to denials and follows up on appeals.
  • Assists in generating billing metrics to facility staff, operations, and corporate service teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in the healthcare industry dealing with billing, patient accounts, managed care, etc.
  • Certified Professional Coder is strongly preferred.
  • Be able to quickly identify root cause of billing problems and bring to resolution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and three years of billing/coding experience is strongly preferred.

Salary Information:

Minimum:  $75,141 annually

Maximum: $90,921 annually
