SUMMARY PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION: Supervise and direct all aspects of patient care.

Responsible for personnel, management, and coordination of nursing service activities in conjunction with the Director of Nursing to provide nursing functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in accordance with established philosophy, objectives, and policies of the hospital to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care. Relates effectively with other departments for continuity of care and, assumes supervision of all nursing functions in the absence of the Director of Nursing Services.

Administrative responsibilities include meeting with patients and family members to discuss concerns or patient care. The ability to evaluate issues and trends, as well as address and resolve issues collaboratively with hospital administration, is also required.
